National park snorkel

Ocean Surfari leaves from Red Hook on St Thomas's east end for two snorkel stops in Virgin Islands National Park off St John. It is one of the two cheapest trips on this site and the one to pick if you want reefs and turtles away from Buck Island.

Virgin Islands National Park Snorkel

About this experience

This is a morning trip into the national park waters around St John. The boat makes two snorkel stops where the crew looks for turtles, rays and reef fish. Gear is included, and the open bar (cocktails, beer, soft drinks, water) follows the swim.

St Thomas guests meet at 9:00 am at the Ocean Surfari store next to the Red Hook ferry dock; St John guests meet at 9:30 am at the Cruz Bay store. Cruise passengers choose Crown Bay or Havensight as the meeting point when booking.

Note the age band: adults are 11 to 80 on this listing, and children 4 to 10. The National Park Service asks snorkelers in the park to avoid reef-damaging sunscreen ingredients and to stay along the edge of the reef rather than directly over it.

John pointed us toward the sea turtles. They were helpful with all equipment. They also gave adequate time at each spot for everyone to explore!
